Benin is a long narrow country in West Africa that contains a wealth of history. This is the birthplace of voodoo, and the religion is still being practiced there today. A visit to the ancient capital of Abomey and to Ouidah where slaves were transferred to waiting ships are examples of Benin’s rich history. An early morning visit to the stilt village of Ganvie is a nice diversion from the nearby capital of Cotonou.
